Have you ever studied your skin closely? You may have noticed some dark areas that are quite visible. These are dead skin cells you can easily remove or peel off to give way to the new layer of your skin, which is smooth and supple.

Getting rid of dead skin cells once a month is enough to keep a healthy and glowing skin. It is also important to use natural means of shedding dead skin cells. Here are 5 ways to exfoliate the skin naturally.

1. Scrub with Honey

Honey is known to keep the skin moisturised so that it is easy to remove dead cells. Put a small amount of honey on your palms.

Then, use your hands to spread the honey on your face and scrub it with your palms gently. Rinse your face with warm water. Pat your face dry and notice how soft and moist it can be.

2. Apply a Mixture of Sugar with Grapeseed or Olive Oil

Sugar from sugarcane contains glycolic acid which can enhance the growth of new skin cells. To make an effective natural exfoliation agent, mix grapeseed oil or olive oil with brown or white sugar to form a paste.

Massage the paste into your face in a gentle circular motion. Leave the mixture on the skin for 10 minutes. Rinse your face using warm water.

3. Mashed Green Papaya

Papaya contains papain, an enzyme that helps dissolve dead skin cells. Green papaya fruit is known to have lots of this enzyme.

To use it in exfoliating the skin, mash a green papaya fruit until it forms a paste. Apply it to the face and leave it on the skin for 15 minutes.

Rinse the face with warm water. Aside from leaving the skin soft and smooth, young papaya can help you get rid of the fine lines on your face and lighten the dark spots on the skin that come with aging.

4. Lemon Juice

The juice of a lemon is known to contain alpha hydroxyl, an acid that facilitates the shedding or removal of dead skin cells. Make a mixture of lemon juice, grape juice, apple juice, and cane sugar.

Stir until the sugar is dissolved. For the best result, using a cotton pad to apply the mixture to the face is recommended. Let it stay on the skin for 10 minutes. Rinse using cold or warm water.

5. Yogurt

Yogurt does not require any preparation because you can apply it to the skin directly. It contains lactic acid that is the same as the one that is found in mild soaps and other beauty products.

Lactic acid is known to help remove dead skin cells without any harsh effects on the skin. Applying yogurt to the skin and leaving it to stay for 20 minutes can result in smoother, clearer, more even-toned, and softer skin that is flawless.

Try these natural ways of exfoliating your skin and prevent the drastic effects of harsh chemicals that can destroy rather than keep your skin lovely.
